Tony Berry talks about growing up with everything being segregated, from movie theaters and water fountains to hospitals and cemeteries. He remembers having to order his food with his mom and leave the store since they were not allowed to sit in the many empty seats. Growing up segregated gave him an inferiority complex and suppressed his potential. He finally saw what it was like to finally be in an integrated society while deployed in Germany.
